Annie Barrows, author of the Ivy and Bean series for children helped to finish her aunt, Mary Ann Shaffer's novel. It's a novel in letters. It is absolutely marvelous! Just as the heroine of the novel, Juliet, is sucked into the story of German occupation of the small island of Guernsey during WWII, I was enchanted and intrigued by the lives of the islanders. So, not only was this a light historical fiction, it was also somewhat of a romance. And to top it all off, it was told through letter form! What a quirky and throughly enjoyable novel!
Now, I am reading a children's book: Billy Creekmore, that takes place at the turn of the 20th century and focuses on a boy who is born at the stroke of midnight on Friday the 13th, 1895. A boy who speaks true and real words as if communicating with the spirits when he was BORN! Crazy and very entertaining!
