One of my goals over the summer was to read some classics. This may have been the only one I read. I got really busy with reading all the new books that started showing up at the libraries. So, back to this choice. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the movie when I was little. I defintely watched it multiple times. Matter of fact, here is a link http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi1632829465/ :)
This book was fabulous. I will admit, it was really hard to not try picturing what happened in the movie... which is why you should ALWAYS read the book first! That aside, although The Secret Garden is full of old English that many students may find difficult, it a wonderful story! My advice, as with any "classic," try to keep in mind the time the story was written, but just read it and soak it in. Once you are really into the story, the language does not seem to be too much of a problem!
Any suggestions as to what I should read next (classic?) I was thinking Winnie the Pooh. Can you believe I never read it?
